Leave of Absence
If your son will be absent from school due to a family holiday or sports activity (excluding College sports), the correct process is to submit a letter or email to the College Rector. The Rector must approve this leave, in advance, so families or students can plan accordingly.
This is a legal requirement to ensure we meet Ministry guidelines regarding student non-attendance.
Please email absentee@stream.school.nz or use the Absentee Form to submit your request to the Rector.
Seniors: Absence may impact NCEA results. If assessments are scheduled, parents must acknowledge that the student will miss the opportunity to sit them and may receive a Not Achieved grade. NZQA regulations state that he will need to submit his assessment on the due date before he leaves on vacation. Students should consult their tutor teacher.
Juniors: The student must catch up on missed work and should check with subject teachers for tasks available while away or on Google Classroom.
Student Health & Panadol Use
To keep students safe and learning:
If a student becomes ill or has a minor injury, they will go to the College Office, accompanied by another student. Office staff will assess the situation and contact parents if necessary. Boarders’ parents and the Director of Boarding will also be informed.
Panadol will only be given if staff believe a student is unwell enough to possibly be sent home. Parents will always be contacted beforehand.
Parents may allow their child to bring one dose of Panadol in the original packaging for personal use.
