Gold for Stream's Fletcher Greaves at National Secondary Athletics |
Sunday 11 December 2011: In a stand-out performance, Fletcher Greaves (pictured left) won gold in the junior 400m in 50.84 seconds in the National Secondary School Athletics held at Newtown Park, Wellington. Setting a Silverstream record for Under-15, Fletcher was totally dominant, winning with enough time to raise his hands in the air and cruise across the line. The throwers and jumpers were nearly all juniors with Nathan Moen (pictured right), a Year 10 student, taking a great 3rd in the junior javelin with 45.8m - he still has another year in this grade. Year 10 student Lui Luamanu was 8th in shot with 13.10m, where he is seeking to break brother Matt's best throw of 15.20m Dominic Roe was 4th in the junior 3000m with a personal best of 9min 48 secs. The junior 4 x 100m relay team was 5th and both senior relay teams qualified for the final, illustrating Stream's depth at this level; a dropped baton frustrated the A team and the B team finished 7th. The 4 x 400m senior relay team ran 3min 31 sec, just  3 seconds off the school record. Overall, a pretty good day at the track.
