| Year 9 and 10 Retreats 2011 |
| 22-25 November 2011: Quitters, Campers, Climbers - Over four days Year 9 and Year 10 students have had an opportunity to reflect on attitudes, choices, and looking forward with hope. They were given the opportunity to test their physical, mental and spiritual courage and see how they responded to the various activities that were prepared. Kaitoke Country Gardens provided the ideal location for this, where they were fed well and made to feel so much at home that they could take some time out as young men. Instead of the Act, Stop, Think way they sometimes use to make decisions, we were all encouraged to Stop, Think and then Act. Moments of inspiration were provided, and, in particular, through the main character of 127 Hours and how he had to really ‘dig deep’ in order to survive. Hopefully, this has been an opportunity for all who took part to really look at their lives and see the many opportunities that lie ahead. |
