Wednesday 2 November 2011: After a fantastic sporting year at Stream, today's sports prizegiving recognised those students who had performed exceptionally during the year. Presenting the awards were two sporting heroes: NZ Ironman legend Cory Hutchings and Silver Fern Katrina Grant. Speaking to the boys, Cory shared some humorous anecdotes from his experiences as an elite sportsperson and emphasised that being talented was not enough, that only if you "train your guts out" could you get to the highest levels. Cory also reminded award recipients that their performance would not be possible without the support of their team members. The top sportsman at Stream is "Victor Ludorum", awarded this year to Liam Higgins who played football for the All Whites at the Under-20 World Cup in Colombia; captained the First XI Football team which came second at the National Tournament, won all Traditional games and made the Wellington semi-finals; and was Jumps Champion for 2011. In closing, the Rector Mr Gerard Tully thanked all those who had supported the players throughout the year. The full award list (as a PDF file) can be found here.Â
