Ash Wednesday services mark start of Lent

Ash Wednesday at Stream is marked by an ash cross on the forehead of each student.Wednesday 17 February 2010: To mark the start of the Lenten season, Ash Wednesday services were held separately for junior and senior students, where each student came forward to receive an ash cross on their forehead as a reminder of this time in Christ's life. Lent is a time for reflection, to remember the time when Jesus spent forty days and nights in the desert. Over the coming forty days, as a catholic community, we reflect on how we can help those who live in less fortunate circumstances and, to alleviate their economic suffering, we act as Jesus would have wished - through our annual Can Drive and supplying these to the broader community. And it is time for us to reflect inward, how can we ensure that we are living out those gospel values that Jesus taught us.
